Why shop local: The benefits for everyone
Thank you for shopping local.
We would like to begin this blog post by saying a huge thank you! If you are reading this then you are probably one of the lovely customers who has shopped with us over recent months. Whether this is because you have been drawn in each week by our fresh produce, locally sourced meats, British cheese and tasty sweet treats or because we have been a convenient choice in the current climate, we thank you.
By shopping local during the ‘lockdown’ period you have not only supported our business through uncertain times but you have also indirectly helped your local community and other local companies too (more on this below!)
Therefore, as we see the lockdown restrictions beginning to ease and more businesses re-open we wanted to highlight some of the benefits of choosing a local business over a larger chain for your shopping in the future.
Here are our five top reasons:
Shopping locally provides you with a more personal service, from people who live and share the same communities as you.
It offers a convenient solution, which in turn reduces your carbon footprint and impact on the environment.
Product ranges might be condensed, but they are far more likely to be unique and come from local producers and artisans. You'll find the very best of what you need, rather than be tempted with offers of what you don't.
Huge volumes of people are supported in employment, both indirectly - in the producers and suppliers and directly, in the shops themselves. These people are your friends and neighbours.
Local shops are far more likely to offer ethical and sustainable products and strategies in their businesses, with a focus on giving back to the local communities that support them.
It’s more than just convenient to shop local and we hope to continue to see all your familiar faces in the farm shop in the future.
It has been our pleasure to provide a vital service to our local community and keep tummies full with delicious food, from the best of local of beyond.
