Gold at the Hampshire Fare Sausage & Pie Competition 2022

Local butchers and producers gathered on Wednesday, 9th March, for a sausage supper and the much-anticipated results of the Great Hampshire Sausage And Pie Competition 2022, announced by Louisa Hannan of BBC Radio Solent.

Organised by Hampshire Fare, this nationally esteemed competition returned, after a year’s break, with new categories and a new venue for the Awards ceremony: St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton. Despite a year’s absence, entries to the Competition were higher than ever: 243 entries from butchers and pie-makers from across the region. Read more here.

Coby, our head butcher at Cobbs at Winchester, entered the competition with some of our most popular flavours on the counter; including Cracked Black Pepper and Traditional Pork Sausage.

We are excited to share that he was awarded a range of medals (Bronze, Silver, and Gold) for his entries!

  • Gold - Cracked Black Pepper Pork Sausage

  • Gold - Smoked Bacon and Mushroom Pork Sausage

  • Silver - Traditional Pork Sausage

  • Silver - Beer and Watercress Pork Sausage

  • Bronze - Sage and Onion Pork Sausage

  • Bronze - Venison, Red wine, and Ginger Sausage

The awards ceremony was an enjoyable evening! Not only did we get to meet some of Hampshire's best butchers and producers, but we were also treated to a delicious supper, awarded some medals, and left with a smile on our faces.

We are very proud of our butchery team here at Cobbs, and these medals are the icing on the cake.

Congratulations Coby and the Cobbs at Winchester butchery team.
