Kingsplay Wagyu: Now available at our Butchery Counters

Kingsplay Wagyu

We’re incredibly excited to be working with Kingsplay Farm, based in North Wiltshire, to provide a new product on our butchery counter - exceptional quality Wagyu beef.

The Tyler family have been farming in Heddington since 1934. Their mission statement today remains the same, “To enhance the health and welfare of our animals, and the quality of our produce.”

We have been looking to source a UK-based Wagyu at an affordable price for some time and, ironically, our solution rested with a neighbour farmer in Wiltshire.

Nick & Lucy’s attention to detail and quality are exactly what we’ve been looking for and the resulting beef is truly spectacular in flavour – you won’t be disappointed!

What is Wagyu?

Originally coming from Japan and the region of Kobe, Wagyu (Wa means Japanese and Gyu means beef) refers to the breed of cattle. In recent times, international breeding has taken place using semen from prized Bulls that are then crossed with more traditional British breeds to produce the F1 Wagyu, which retains that quality and incredible marbling. Wagyu beef tends to be slaughtered at a later stage than traditional beef, allowing that distinctive marbling to develop and enhance eating quality.

Why choose Wagyu?

Famous for its richly-marbled appearance, as well as its exceptional flavour and texture, Wagyu beef melts in your mouth, providing you with the ultimate eating experience.

Its exceptional flavour and texture result from the high percentage of monounsaturated fatty acids in the composition of its marbling, which also provide significant health benefits. When it comes to health benefits, Wagyu beef is often compared to salmon and olive oil.

Wagyu beef contains high levels of Omega-3 and Omega-6 (in particular conjugated linoleic acid) polyunsaturated fatty acids, the ‘good fats’, which are associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes, cancer and Alzheimer’s.

• Exceptional flavour, texture & marbling

• High levels of Omega 3 & Omega 6

• Premium flavour at an affordable price

Wagyu beef is also famous for its high price tag. However, by breeding their Wagyu cattle from their dairy herd, the Tyler’s can produce Wagyu beef at an affordable price so it can be enjoyed by everyone.

Now available to enjoy from our Hungerford, Englefield and Winchester butchery counters.
